Understanding AVO meter / Multimeter
AVO meter stands for Ampere, Volt, Ohmmeter, so the Avometer is a tool for measuring current, voltage, resistance in a circuit.
We only need to point the switch selector on the AVOmeter and point the switch selector needle in the direction of what we are going to measure, whether it’s the amps, volts, or ohms. And puncture the two needles into the component you want to measure, then the results will be shown by the pointer.
What is an AVOmeter / Multimeter? Definition and Functions
Beforehand, introduce the two brothers, namely the analog avo meter and digital avo meter. The analog type avo meter is an avo meter that uses a needle to get the measurement results.
The analog type avo meter is quite difficult to read because besides you have to carefully look at the direction of the pointer, you also have to look at the scale on the switch selector then multiply it by the formula that will be explained below.
Meanwhile, the digital Avometer is simpler because you only have to see the measurement results, which will be clearly shown in the model number of your measurement results. However, this type of avo meter is quite expensive so rarely have it
There is also a type of avo meter that can sound, the function of the sound on the avo meter is to see the ohm measurement results, (whether or not a conductor is connected in a circuit) why there is a sound because it makes it easier for technicians to measure whether a circuit is broken. And usually, technicians or repairmen like me (so promoted) always keep the avo meter in their pocket, because it’s quite a hassle when measuring resistance to open and look at the avo meter.

Selector switch Is part of the avo meter is a rotary switch that functions to select the position of the gauge and its measuring limit, for example, the selector switch leads to the ohm x10 section, meaning that you can measure resistance and cannot measure current or voltage.
The switch selector is part of the avo meter which is the main key when we use the avo meter. On the switch selector section, there are usually 4 measuring positions and a one-off position.
The ACV position consisting of 10, 50,250, 1000 functions to measure the AC voltage,
The position of the ohms consisting of x1, x10, x10, x1k, and x10k serves to measure resistance
The DcmA position which consists of µ50, 2.5, 25, 0.25A serves to measure milliamperes. This position is often used by electronics kids, but what technicians often use is the ohmmeter position.
The DCV position consisting of 0.1, 0.5, 2.5, 10, 50, 250, 1000 functions to measure the DC current voltage
And finally, the Selector switch leads to Off to stop the avo meter.
Note, that the four measurement limits above are not necessarily the same, depending on the type, brand of avo meter you are using.

Terminal + and – com Multimeter
The + and – com terminals are part of the avo meter that is directly related to the circuit so that it can be measured, while the + and – com words are a sign so that when measuring DCV or DcmA the terminal positions do not change because this can affect your measurement results.
Zero Adjustment Multimeter
Zero Adjustment functions to make or adjust the needle or pointer to the zero position when the state is steady/neutral when you want to use the ohm position because this can affect your measurement results.
Measuring scale Multimeter
The measuring scale is the values contained on the avo meter that the measuring needle will show to see how much value you measure.
