There are three driving modes in the Outlander PHEV: EV, Hybrid Series and Parallel Hybrid.

When the EV mode is active, the second motor that gets energy from the battery driving all wheels. This mode is active when the initial acceleration or running at low speed.

When Mode Hybrid Series, 2.0-liter engine serves as a generator that provides electricity to two motors. The system will convert into Series Hybrid Mode when the remaining charge in the battery is less adequate and more powerful performance when needed (such as during acceleration for overtaking or climbing).

Parallel Hybrid Mode functions when the car drove at high speed. Engine provides primary power, aided by two motors if needed.

Lithium–ion batteries can be charged (plug-in) at home with a voltage of 200V AC (15 A) for 4 hours from empty to 100%. Quick Charge only takes 30 minutes to charge the battery from empty to 80%.
